Mines are a powerful ground-based firework. They normally begin with a fountain effect, low noise and ground level lulling you into a false sense of security. As they approach the end, mines make you jump out of your skin by finishing with a huge eruption of colour and ear-splitting noise.
We usually advise customers that mines are great ways to start off a display as they have a real kick and grab your audience's attention.
Mines consist of two parts connected in one unit. When you light the fuse on the mine it ignites the fountain, this sends sprays of sparks into the sky, as the fountain burns through and approaches the end, the fuse burns in to the 'shot-tube' portion of the firework which ignites at the end creating a fabulous aerial finale.
Mines are primarily found in small back garden to medium displays where the audience has clear line of sight to the base of the fireworks, this is due to the fountain beginning. Personally, we have used larger mines in larger displays to kick off the proceedings as in our opinion there's nothing quite like a mine to grab the audience's attention and let them know that the main event has begun.
