Firework Fountains — Ground-Level Colour With Minimal Noise
Fountains are the firework you light when you want something beautiful without waking the neighbours. They sit on the ground and spray sparks, crackle and colour upwards — nothing flies into the air, nothing goes bang. Just a cascade of light at close range that everyone can stand near and enjoy.
Of the 8 main types of fireworks sold in the UK, fountains are the quietest and the most garden-friendly — which is why they're often the first thing we recommend to families starting out.
Every fountain in this collection is 1.4G classified, which is the quieter classification. Most are also F2-rated (8-metre safety distance), so they'll work in a standard back garden. If you've got young kids, pets, or neighbours who aren't thrilled about fireworks, fountains are where to start.
What Do Fountain Fireworks Actually Look Like?
Think of a cone or tube on the ground shooting a spray of sparks and colour 2 to 4 metres into the air. The smaller ones — like Chunky Monkey and Laser from Brothers Pyrotechnics — give you about a minute of golden and silver showers. They're simple but they look great, especially grouped together.
The bigger fountains are where things get interesting. Krakatoa from Primed Pyrotechnics (£17.99) runs for 80 seconds with colour changes and crackle phases. Pyramid Twist from Gemstone (£29.99) is a proper centrepiece — a twisted pyramid shape that's as much about the look of the firework itself as the effects it produces. And Glitzy XXL from Pyroworx (£29.99) is one of the tallest-spraying fountains we stock.
If you want a full ground-level show from one purchase, the Fountain Selection (£73.99) bundles multiple fountains together for over 9 minutes of continuous effects.
Are Fountains Suitable for Small Gardens?
Most are, yes. 15 of the 21 fountains here are F2-rated with an 8-metre safety distance — that covers most suburban gardens. The remaining 6 are F3-rated (25-metre distance), which includes the larger pieces like Krakatoa and the Fountain Selection. Always check the category on the label before buying.
How Do Fountains Fit Into a Display?
Fountains are brilliant openers. Light one while people are still arriving and it sets the mood without blasting anyone's eardrums. They also work well as quiet interludes between louder cakes and barrages — a moment for people to catch their breath before the next barrage kicks in.
For a fully quiet display, pair fountains with sparklers and low-noise cakes. For weddings, they provide a gentle backdrop that won't drown out conversation. If you want sparkler effects indoors, check our ice fountains — completely different product designed for indoor use.
Prefer a pre-planned show? Our complete display kits include fountains alongside cakes, rockets and finales with a suggested firing order. Orders over £300 ship free, or any cart with an item from our Free Delivery collection ships free regardless of cart total. After fountains at a lower price? Several feature in our cheap fireworks collection. Fountains also make a great addition to any Bonfire Night or garden fireworks show. Browsing the wider supporting cast? Our other pyro collection groups fountains alongside sparklers, Roman candles, mines and the rest of the non-cake-non-rocket range.
What is a firework fountain?
A firework fountain is a ground-level pyrotechnic that produces a spray of sparks, crackles and colour from a cone or tube sitting on the ground. Unlike rockets or cakes, fountains don't launch anything into the air. They rely on visual impact at close range rather than aerial bursts.
Are fountains the quietest fireworks?
Yes. Every fountain in this collection is 1.4G classified — the lower-energy classification. They produce crackling and hissing rather than sharp bangs, making them the best choice if noise is a concern for you, your pets or your neighbours.
Are fountains safe for small gardens?
Most are. 15 of 21 fountains here are F2-rated with an 8-metre safety distance, which suits most back gardens. The remaining 6 are F3-rated (25-metre distance). Check the category label on each product before buying.
How long do fountain fireworks last?
Individual fountains run from about 35 seconds to 90 seconds depending on size. The Fountain Selection bundle lasts over 9 minutes. Bigger fountains tend to have multiple phases with colour changes throughout, so there's more to watch than just a single spray.
Can you use fountains indoors?
No. Consumer firework fountains must always be used outdoors with the correct safety distances. For indoor use at weddings and events, look at ice fountains (cold spark machines) — a completely different product designed specifically for indoor settings.
Do fountain fireworks come with free delivery?
Orders over £300 qualify for free delivery to mainland UK. Smaller orders carry a flat delivery charge. See our delivery page for full details.
