You can't beat a bit of nostalgia.
The Super Spin from Brothers Pyrotechnics is a fantastic example of a traditional Catherine Wheel done right. This is a "Quad Motor" wheel, meaning it uses four separate drivers to generate the thrust that gets it spinning.
For a firework under a tenner, the performance is tremendous. It spins for nearly a full minute, throwing out a shower of golden sparks and coloured flame. It’s low noise, hypnotic to watch, and brings a bit of old-school charm to any garden display.
If you want a reliable wheel that doesn't cost the earth, this is the one to pin to the fence.
Galactic Top Tip:
The number one reason Catherine Wheels fail is being nailed too tightly to the fence! You must leave a tiny gap between the nail head and the wheel so it can rotate freely. Before you light it, give it a little spin with your finger—if it moves easily, you are good to go. If it's stiff, back the nail out slightly.
