What Are the Best Kind of Fireworks to Buy: Expert Recommendations

When it comes to buying fireworks, there are many options to choose from. Whether you're planning a special occasion, a garden fireworks display, or a big event like Bonfire Night or New Year's Eve, it's important to choose the right kind of fireworks for your needs. In this post, we'll provide expert recommendations on the best kind of fireworks to buy for different occasions.

For larger displays, professional fireworks displays, or events like Bonfire Night or New Year's Eve, multi-shot cakes and rockets are the best kind of fireworks to buy. These fireworks are typically larger and more powerful, providing a more impressive display with high-quality effects. Multi-shot cakes come in a range of sizes and styles, with varying numbers of shots, so you can choose the right one for your event. Rockets, on the other hand, are more versatile and can be used for a wide range of displays.

If you're looking for smaller garden fireworks for a family display, selection boxes and Catherine wheels are the best kind of fireworks to buy. These fireworks are more suitable for smaller spaces and provide a range of different effects, including fountains, Roman candles, and shot fireworks. Selection boxes often come with a range of different fireworks, making them a great option for a family display.

When buying fireworks, it's important to choose high-quality options to ensure firework safety and avoid any potential hazards. Look for fireworks that have been certified and tested for quality and safety, and always buy from a reputable seller. It's also important to follow firework safety guidelines, including reading the instructions carefully, keeping a safe distance from the fireworks, and never attempting to relight or dismantle them.

If you're looking to buy fireworks, it's recommended that you either visit one of our specialist fireworks shops or you can buy fireworks online from our site. Many fireworks shops offer special offers and discounts, such as buy one get one free. Here at Galactic, we have our annual Sale Weekend, where across our whole range of fireworks, we give discounts on everything we sell. This happens annually over the first weekend in September.

The best kind of fireworks to buy depends on the event or occasion. For larger displays , multi-shot cakes and rockets are the best options, while smaller garden fireworks, such as selection boxes and Catherine wheels, are more suitable for family displays. It also depends on where you intend to hold your firework display as to what fireworks are suitable, bearing in mind you should only choose what is suitable in terms of firework areas, fallout zones and spectator distances.

F1 outdoor fireworks of a specific NEC weight (like you get in some selection boxes and packs) only require a distance of 1 metre away from spectators, but more distance is better for these, I’d say at least 5 metres,

F2 outdoor fireworks can have two safety distances, dependent on their power and potency -

Many will be marked “retire immediately to 8m”

But more powerful F2 ones that Galactic sell, such as those by Evolution Fireworks and Cube Fireworks, often specify “Spectators must be at least 15m away, firer must be at least 8m away”, the firer safety distance assumes the firer will be wearing suitable personal protective clothing and equipment i.e. flameproof overalls / gloves / hard hat / protecive eyewear and hearing protecion seeing that they are closer to the fireworks than the spectators,

And finally F3 outdoor fireworks, which are the most powerful items, that firework fanatics can get their hands on legally, these usually specify “Spectators must be at least 25m away, firer must retire to 15m”, again, the firer safety distance assumes the firer will be wearing suitable personal protective clothing and equipment i.e. flameproof overalls / gloves / hard hat / protecive eyewear and hearing protecion seeing that they are closer to the fireworks than the spectators.

Whatever is specified on your fireworks, you shouldn’t ignore it, safety distances on fireworks are there for the safety of spectators and the firer, and only a fool would ignore these vital steps.

Playing russian roulette with firework safety distances indicated on your fireworks is foolhardy, say something goes seriously wrong with a powerful F2 15m firework firework or large oversized F3 25m firework at close range of 8m away from your audience, and it fires debris sparks or hot effects at one or more of your spectators or it accidentally misfires onto a neighbours property, you could be sued for injury or property damage because you didn’t adhere strictly to the safety distances specified on your fireworks. Sad but true.
