Sparklers

Sparklers are must-haves from back garden family fireworks through to the biggest organised events, they would not be the same without these family-favourites. You can buy sparklers with the standard gold sparklers or with coloured sparkles, watch as the fizz and sparkle along. Of course, you can write your name in the sky or simply watch them sparkle away.

Please be incredibly careful with sparklers, these innocent-looking things are still fireworks and should be handled with the utmost care. They burn at over 500c and are responsible for most accidents with fireworks in general. If used responsibly they are great fun but treat them with respect.

Have a bucket of cold water available to dispose of used sparklers and ensure children are supervised.

What Are Sparklers?

Sparklers are thin strips of wire which are coated in a thin payer of pyro-powder. These then burn down at a steady rate allowing for children and adults alike to enjoy watching these sparkle in the night.

Firework Safety

At Galactic Fireworks safety is at the forefront of everything that we do, fireworks must be used responsibly to minimise the risk of any accidents to yourself or to others. We want to make sure that everyone has a wonderful time watching fireworks and safety protocols are adhered to.

Sparklers date all the way back to AD 670 where the first one was invented by Callinicos, a resident of Heliopolis in Ancient Egypt. It was called ‘cheirosiphon’ and is said to have looked like a smaller version of the roman candle.

While originally intended as a weapon, the since adapted ‘Greek Fire’ has become the perfect way to mark festive occasions. In the UK, sparklers are a popular addition to Guy Fawkes Night on the fifth of November. It is common across the globe too; Independence Day in the US, Chinese New Year and Diawli are all celebrated with sparklers!

There are three main components to sparklers – metal fuel, oxidiser and a binder which is what gives the all-important colourful glow. Red sparklers use strontium nitrate while green sparklers require potassium chlorate.

We have a selection of sparklers available for purchase - so, if you’re looking for different colours, sizes or quantities, we have the sparklers to suit any display!
