Garden Fireworks

You can go to a big, professional fireworks display in your local area, and that’s sure to be a lot of fun – you’ll love it because, after all, who doesn’t like fireworks? However, the issue with these displays is that they’re not always going to be there when you want them. They’ll be around for New Year’s Eve, bonfire night, Diwali, and so on, but will there be a big, bold, beautiful fireworks display for your birthday? A loved one’s graduation? A wedding anniversary? Unless it all coincides with another celebration, the answer is probably going to be no.

What’s the answer then? What can you do if you want to have fireworks but there are any events taking place near you or even in the near future? The answer is small garden fireworks.

Having garden-safe fireworks is perfectly possible as long as you buy the right ones and read all the instructions thoroughly. At Galactic Fireworks, we have a vast range of fireworks specially designed for use at home – they’re category F2, in other words – so you can rest assured when you buy your special fireworks from us, you’re doing the right thing.

How To Choose The Right Fireworks For Your Garden Event

Choosing the perfect garden fireworks isn’t always easy, but it should always be a lot of fun – this is the start of your fireworks adventure, after all! Luckily, there are many different fireworks you can have in your garden, so no matter what the event might be, there’s sure to be a selection that works for you, and you can create the perfect firework boxes and packs to take home and enjoy.

Of course, with so many options, it can feel a little overwhelming, but it’s okay – Galactic Fireworks are here to help. The best place to start is with the type of fireworks you want, which will narrow things down nicely. You might want firework rockets, for example, which will shoot up into the sky and give off an impressive bang. Or perhaps you want smaller fireworks that aren’t so big and bold. Maybe you know everyone’s going to ask for sparklers, or perhaps it’s ice fountains you want for a birthday cake. Whatever it is, we’ve got it, so make a list of what’s going to work best for the space you have. You can even get low-noise fireworks if that makes more sense and makes you and those around you more comfortable.

The size and space are other things you’ll need to think about, of course, especially when you’re hoping to set fireworks off in your own back garden or front garden. Whatever suits you. To make the most of the space you have, always opt for smaller gardens fireworks (the F2 ones we mentioned above) because you won’t have to worry about not having enough distance (you’ll need eight metres for these) or running the risk of an accident happening. Remember, it’s crucial to stick to the guidelines when it comes to the safety distances – they’re there for a reason. If you really don’t have the room to give the fireworks the space they need, you might have to rethink your plans. Yes, that would be a shame, but it's better to be safe than sorry, and as fun as fireworks are, it’s vital to remember that they’re still explosives at the end of the day.

If you’re designing small garden displays for some friends and family and you’re struggling to work out what firework cakes or other delights would be best to get and let off for your particular celebration or event, why not ask your guests? Take a poll or make a list of everyone’s preferences, and then you can buy what you know people are going to love. Whatever they name, we’re highly likely to have it, but you can always share our website with them so they can pick and choose from our wide range of wonderful fireworks.

Of course, you’ll also need a budget in place. Garden-safe fireworks are available at a range of different prices, so whatever your budget might be, you’ll always be able to find fireworks that fit it and your outside space.

Why Have Fireworks In The Garden?

Today, big, organised firework displays are what most people think of when they think of watching fireworks, and that does make sense. There are lots of rules and regulations around fireworks (all of which we know back to front, so if you’re curious, just reach out and ask – Galactic Fireworks has the answers), and those professional displays are so great, why wouldn’t you just go and watch one of those?

This is all true, but if you think back far enough (or ask older relatives), you’ll find that no one used to go to big displays. They didn’t really exist, at least not in the same way as they do now. People would just gather in a garden with a bonfire while cooking potatoes, roasting marshmallows, drinking hot chocolate (or hot cider), laughing and chatting, and having fun as a family or friendship group.

It's time to bring that tradition back.

Small gardens are perfect for intimate gatherings with family and friends. When you add fireworks to the mix, you’ll make some fantastic memories that people will talk about for years – they’ll keep mentioning that time they went to your house and were treated to a mini fireworks display in the garden. What a great way to make people happy and bring everyone closer!

Plus, as we mentioned above, you can use fireworks to celebrate special occasions in the way you want to, not in the way someone else chooses to. You’ll have complete control over what fireworks are used, how long the display goes on for, whether you have a theme or not, the start time, and even what snacks and drinks are on offer. Doing it yourself (as long as you’re safe and careful) is a great idea to make it a really unique experience.

For some people, letting off a few fireworks in their garden is a great way to manage stress. It might seem strange, but think about it; if you’ve had a hard day at work or you’re feeling down for any reason, having a rocket or a Catherine wheel or anything else that you can light and enjoy can help to calm you down – you’ll soon forget about your worries and troubles and be mesmerised by the whirling colours and loud noises. By the time it’s all over, your stress levels will be much lower, and you’ll feel good again.

You can even use fireworks in your garden to bond with the community more because this is something that everyone around you can enjoy (which is why opting for low noise fireworks can sometimes be wise). Why not give the neighbours a free fireworks display? It certainly can’t hurt.

Firework Safety Is Crucial

When you go to an organised display, there will be people there looking out for your health and safety. From experts on hand who can deal with fires to barriers so no one can get too close to the fireworks, as well as medical staff and wardens (and the fact that safety would have been a big feature when it came to planning in the first place), you don’t have to worry about anything.

At home, things are different. You’ll want to be as safe as possible, but you won’t have all these experts around you to make sure it happens. That doesn’t mean it can’t be a safe event, though; you just need to make sure you’re doing the right thing when it comes to firework safety.

The right thing starts with reading all the instructions for the fireworks you’ve chosen to have in your garden. Don’t assume you know what the next one is all about just because you’ve read the first set of instructions because different fireworks need different things and have different rules. Read them all and make sure you’re taking care of everyone and everything around you – including yourself.

Then there’s the safety distance. Remember that for garden fireworks (category F2), the minimum safety distance is eight metres. Don’t just guess; measure it out and even put a barrier up to make sure no one gets too close. It’s also wise to make sure that wherever you’re lighting your fireworks is on stable ground because the last thing you want is for a firework to tip over and shoot off into the crowd – even if they’re at the right distance, that’s still a potential problem.

Make sure there’s a bucket of sand (great for sparklers when they’ve finished sparkling) or water, or at least a hose, nearby as well. Should anything go awry, you’ll be able to put the fire out quickly before it can do too much damage.

Another thing to think about is safety gear. It might not have occurred to you, but lighting fireworks, although something you might have done a lot, can be dangerous. If you wear goggles and gloves and make sure you have long sleeves and trousers on, you’ll be a lot safer when you do it.
